Briefcase Type Foundry
An independent Czech type studio and open platform connecting type design, research, and publishing since 2014. Led by Tomáš Brousil and Radek Sidun with Petra Dočekalová, it offers a curated portfolio of unique typefaces by emerging designers, as well as it digitises original typeface designs, and publishes older, previously unreleased designs by typographers such as Jiří Rathouský and Jan Solpera.
Beyond producing contemporary typefaces and custom fonts, the studio collaborates on visual identities, independently publishes books and maintains an extensive archive of sketches, drawn designs, and estates of significant Czech and Czechoslovak typographers. Members are active in academic research, publishing, and are co-creators of the European typographic proofreader Typofix. Briefcase has received international recognition from the Type Directors Club, Communication Arts, ED Awards, and Czech Grand Design, and its members regularly speak at ATypI, TypeCon, and AIGA.

Typofix
is a European typographic proofreader that makes correct typography easy and accessible for everyone. Developed at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) in collaboration with nearly 30 typographic experts across Europe, Typofix preserves and applies validated typographic rules for all 24 official EU languages, effectively covering the entire American continent too.
The project combines an open-source database of language-specific typographic rules with an intelligent correction tool that automatically fixes quotation marks, spacing, punctuation, and other common errors. Typofix works as an app, plugin, or web service and can be used in tools such as Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign.
By respecting linguistic traditions while embracing modern automation, Typofix supports accessibility, and cultural diversity in digital communication. The project aims to set a new standard for inclusive, accurate, and culturally aware digital typography for everyday users as well as professionals.

I grew up in Liberec and have always felt close to the mountains. In winter, I spend most of my time snowboarding; I get around Prague exclusively by bike, and I regularly attend festivals to stay up to date—not just (typo)graphic ones, but also events like Milano Design Week, the Venice Biennale, Tabook, Křehký Mikulov, and Frýdlantsko Franze Kafky.
I try to spend as much time in nature as possible. At home, I listen to music, regularly go to the sauna where I solve crosswords, I support my wife and her fashion brand, and learn math with my daughter (without pushing her to become a typographer).
